What information do we collect and store?

Anonymous data

We collect anonymous data from every lottery.us visitor so that we can improve the speed, responsiveness and reliability of lottery.us. We check what web pages were requested, what was sent back to you (# of bytes), what browser was used (Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Konquerer,...), the date/time the request was made (timestamp), the language used (English, French, German)...

Potentially identifying information

So we can improve the speed and reliability of lottery.us. We collect your IP address and, if possible, your real world location.

It would be possible for us to use the state name=value pair we keep in local storage, to identify your region. For example; United States state (state='ny'), Canadian province (state='qc'), country (state='uk'), city-state (state='sg') ...

Personally identifiable information

None.

Do we use Cookies?

No. We use local storage items. Unlike cookies, local storage items aren't automatically sent over the Internet with each web page request.

The way we use local storage, the information stored never leaves your device. Our code just retrieves the information and uses it for site navigation or to redisplay a saved Keno, Bingo, or other card. Our use of local storage maintains your privacy.

When we set a local storage item, your internet browser stores a small file on your computer.

The file contains a name=value pair:

state = state | province | country | region”

textsize = small | medium | large”

For example:

state = ny”

textsize = m”

Except for our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Glossary, and help pages; every time you retrieve or switch back to a web page delivered by lottery.us, our software stores the following:

laststate='tx'
lasttheme='candy'
items_tx={"lasttheme":"candy","lastcandygm":"mm","lastcasinogm":"pb"}

The region abbreviation, the theme, and in the case of the Candy and Casino themes,
the abbreviation of the game being displayed.

When you change the region or theme or game or background or textsize or other option, local storage items are automatically updated to reflect your current preferences.

you've selected the carbon Candy theme background

lastbkgrd='carbon'

you've selected the large ('l') Plain theme textsize

items_tx={"lasttheme":"candy","lastcandygm":"mm","lastcasinogm":"pb","textsize":"l"}

If you wish, you can set your browser to stop our site from setting these local storage items on your computer. However; lottery.us will not work properly. Procedures for disabling local storage for lottery.us are detailed in the Disabling Local Storage section of this document.

If you wish, you can command your browser to remove the local storage items we've stored on your computer. However; when you again view lottery results at lottery.us, the “textsize” and “state” and other local storage items will automatically be restored.

Notes:

All games provided by lottery.us are “FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY”.

Think of the PLAY button as a SAVE & PLAY button.

Games Inc. and lottery.us do not transmit the numbers over the internet, and do not share the numbers you've used with anyone. The numbers you select are stored on your computer and your lottery provider never gets to see the numbers you have selected.

Any number combinations you've used but haven't saved also do not leave your computer.

How do we use your information?

To personalize your experience.

The “local storage” items stored on your computer allow us to automatically retrieve and display the last set of lottery results you requested.

To improve our website.

Knowing what information is most requested allows us to increase the responsiveness (i.e., speed) of our website.

Our only access to the numbers you've entered takes place on your computer and is only for the purposes of matching your numbers against winning lottery numbers and computing prize amounts. Games Inc. and lottery.us have no affiliation with any lottery and have no reason to share any of the information with the lotteries. Again, we create local storage items that save what was last viewed. So that you automatically come back to where you were as you're switching between states and themes, and when you come back after leaving our website.

How do we protect your information?

We use web services offered by large companies with good reputations. Companies such as Google, Amazon, Akamai, and Rackspace. These companies have large security teams and better physical security then we could manage on our own.

All the information transferred to and from your computer and lottery.us is encyrpted.

We don't store any information not related to improving performance (# of bytes transferred, browser used, etc.).

The information found in the cookie and local storage item tables found in this document is only stored locally, on your computer. The local storage items are kept on your device, are not transmitted, and are actually used only by the browser running on your device.

We don't store information about any links you've clicked on.

Finally, since we had break-ins where the software was being developed. We printed the software code to paper and had the software retyped on virgin computers, having no Internet access, with WiFi and USB ports disabled. Storing the computers and backup media in a heavy expensive safe, in secure commercial office space. Office space which is well-trafficked at all hours of the day and night, by those who know us.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

No.

Third party links.

There are none; except for the links you find in our Terms of Service documents. These links lead to other companies that have their own terms of service policies. Games Inc. and lottery.us is in no way responsible for what takes place at these other companies and websites. That said, the links in our Terms of Services documents are all to reputable companies.

Third party advertising

There is none.

Business transfers

In the event we go out of business, go bankrupt, are sold to or merge with another company. It really doesn't matter. Currently we don't acquire nor store personal information.

Accessing and Updating Your Personal Information and Preferences

We don't ask for nor store personal information.

We don't explicitly ask your preferences.

We do automatically save local storage items on your computer. The local storage items allow us to remember information you previously asked for and help us remember how you wanted that information displayed. But it's all automatic and the user has no involvement with the process.

Disclaimer to Security:

The information stored as local storage items can be seen by anyone with physical access to your computer and your computer account.

Or by malicious software possibly present on your computer. For example; a “keylogger” would be able to view and transmit the information. It's strongly recommended that the user have, at the very least, an active firewall and anti-virus program.

While information is sent encrypted, powerful computers would be capable of eventually deciphering the information. However; there isn't much to be gained by anyone seeing the information and we wouldn't know why anyone would take the time and effort to do so.

Terms and Conditions

Please also visit our Terms and Conditions section establishing the use, disclaimers, and limitations of liability governing the use of our website at Terms.

Opt-out

There is no opt-out option. Your only recourse is to block our website local storage items, in which case lottery.us won't function. If and when our website uses unnecessary local storage items, we will have an opt-out option.

Disabling Local Storage Items

local storage items can be disabled in the browser you are using, and any local storage items already present on your computer can be removed. We do not recommend disabling or removing local storage items. lottery.us depends on local storage items to function properly. We wouldn't recommend disabling Javascript for the same reason.

How to block local storage items from being set by lottery.us.

Google Chrome

You can block local storage items from lottery.us by clicking down to >> Settings >> Privacy >> Content settings … >> Manage exceptions >> … , selecting “Block” from the Behavior dropdown list, and keying in our website url “lottery.us”. Don't forget to click the DONE button.

You can block local storage items completely, for any and all websites, by starting Chrome with the following option/command-line switch:

--disable-local-storage

Internet Explorer

You can block local storage items from lottery.us by clicking Tools >> Internet Options >> Privacy >> Sites, entering our website url lottery.us, and clicking >> Block. Don't forget to click the OK button as you dismiss the dialog windows you've created.

Firefox

Maybe by installing and using a Firefox add-on called Cookie Controller?

Alternately, from stackoverflow.com:

Type “about:config” in your address bar and hit enter. Scroll down to „dom.storage.enabled“, right click on it and hit „Toggle“ to disable the DOM Storage. Note that this disables local storage for all websites.

How to remove lottery.us local storage items that have already been set.

The danger in doing this is :

You may lose stored number combinations you've saved and use on a regular basis.

You may lose your preferences. Text size, background, last theme or game accessed, and so on.

In any case, any further use of lottery.us will recreate whatever local storage items are subsequently needed. So removing local storage items while continuing to use lottery.us is most likely a wasted exercise.

Google Chrome

You can remove all lottery.us local storage items at once, by clicking down to >> Settings >> Privacy >> Content settings … >> All cookies and site data … >> , selecting lottery.us from the list and clicking >> Remove All .

You can selectively remove lottery.us local storage items, at any time, by clicking on the hamburger menu icon in the upper right hand corner of the window. Selecting "More tools" >> "Developer Tools". Clicking on the "Resources" menu item in the horizontal menu bar found at the top of the developer section displayed. (The left-side sidebar displayed will show an item called “Local Storage”) Clicking on the triangle to the left of the words Local Storage. Clicking on the Local Storage submenuitem "/". (A list of local storage items for our website should now be displayed.) Selecting a single item or multiple items. Deleting the selected entry(s) by right clicking any item selected and then clicking on the "Delete" menu item displayed. Any local storage items selected should now have disappeared. Note that any time you access webpages at lottery.us the local storage items will automatically be recreated. So removing local storage items is a wasted exercise if you wish to continue using lottery.us.

Firefox

Click Hamburger menu
Click Developer
Click Web Console
To the right of  >>
Type console.dir(window.localStorage); and hit enter
Type localStorage.removeItem('item name goes here'); and hit enter
(remove as many local storage items as you wish)

Alternatively, by installing and using a Firefox add-on called Foundstone HTML5 Local Storage Explorer
Or by having and using Firebug

Just like cookies, your browser stores key:value pairs, called local storage items, on your computer. However; unlike cookies, the key:value pairs stay on your computer. The key word is automatic because it would be possible for our program code to transmit a local storage item back to our web page server software. However; we just leave the information on you computer. It's just there to maintain your preferences, save your number combinations, and save information about the last request you made. So that you can come back to where you were when you last accessed lottery.us.
